Micro Piles for Underpinning

The micropile slide stabilisation system consists of an array of micropiles, working both in tension and compression, that connect as a system using a structurally reinforced grade beam to stop slide movements.

Common uses

Slope stabilisation

Process

A small bench is cut into the slope to allow access for the micropile drill rig. Two rows of micropiles are then drilled, the front row vertical, and the back row inclined into the slope. Reinforcing steel is tied around the micropiles, formwork placed and concrete then poured to create the grade beam. The finished micropiles act in tension and compression to effectively create an integral, stabilized ground reinforcement system to resist sliding forces in the slope.

Advantages

  • The grade beam can be buried and slope stabilisation system is hidden from view
